Lake Mburo National Park

Lake Mburo National Park is located in Kiruhura District in Western Uganda. The park is situated about 30 kilometres (19 mi), by road, east of Mbarara, the largest city in the sub-region. This location is approximately 240 kilometres (150 mi), by road, west ofKampala, Uganda’s capital and largest city. The coordinates of the park are:00 36S, 30 57E (Latitude:0.6000; Longitude:30.9500).
Lake Mburo though the smallest national park in Uganda is home to 350 bird species including the much sought for and also threatened bird. The Shoe-bill. Other bird species at Lake Mburo most of the major acacia and swamp associated bird species including: the spectacular papyrus gonolek and the blue-headed coucal, the black-collared barbel and southern ground hornbill.

Crested Francolin, Emerald-spotted Wood Dove, Brown Parrot, Barefaced Go-away bird, Rednecked Spur, common Quails, Black-billed Barbet, Greenwood Hoopoe, Blue-napped Mousebird, Lilac-breasted Roller,African-grey Hornbill, Nubian Woodpecker, Trilling Cisticola.
Driving towards Rwonyo camp may reveal; Coqui Francolin, Rednecked spurfowl, Black Bellied Bustard, Temminck’s Courser, African-wattled Plover Rufous napped and Flappet larks, Rufuos chested Swallow ,Yellow-throated Long claw and Southern Red Bishop.
Mammal species like the buffaloes, zebras, and many others also reside at this park.
Lake Mburo is occupied by wetlands that constitute 20% of its 370 km sq. giving it a unique atmosphere for both the visitors and the reasons for the visit tourism. Her swamps in addition to the lake provides you with an unforgettable fishing experience.
